2022 Subaru Legacy vs 2022 Toyota Camry

If you're looking for a family sedan with excellent reliability ratings, impressive performance, and desirable amenities, then the 2022 Subaru Legacy and the 2022 Toyota Camry are great options. Keep reading to find out how these two vehicles stack up, then feel free to browse our new inventory for pricing and availability for the 2022 Subaru Legacy.

Subaru Legacy Exterior

Subaru Legacy vs Toyota Camry Exterior

The exterior of the Subaru Legacy is bold and distinctive. It comes in six attractive colour options to stand out on the road. Features include rear chrome badging, standard LED lighting, LED steering-responsive headlights with high-beam assist, and 17- or 18-inch wheels.

The Toyota Camry is not as bold or distinctive as the Legacy. It does not offer standard LED lighting all around, with LED daytime running lights not available on any trims. Furthermore, the Camry's standard wheels are smaller, riding on 16-inches, and the ground clearance is lower, making it harder to drive over rocky or uneven roads or terrain.

Legacy vs Camry Interior

The interior of the Legacy is spacious and attractive, offering desirable amenities. It comes standard with automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and Bluetooth. Premium models can enjoy the genuine Nappa leather seats, heated rear seats, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 11.6-inch touchscreen display with a premium sound system.

The 2022 Toyota Camry doesn't offer nearly as many features. The largest touchscreen display available for the Camry is only 9-inches, and it doesn't offer heated rear seats, SiriusXM satellite radio, or remote start as the Subaru Legacy does. The Legacy also provides greater overall passenger volume than the Camry, making it more comfortable for taller occupants and adults.

Subaru Legacy vs Toyota Camry Performance

The Subaru Legacy is a standout competitor in the mid-size sedan segment, and one of the many reasons for this is its standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. AWD is a sought-after drivetrain due to its superior handling, stability, and control. The Subaru Legacy is one of the few mid-size sedans to offer this feature as standard across its lineup. The Legacy comes standard with a 182-horsepower 2.5-litre direct-injection SUBARU BOXER engine paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Legacy also offers a 2.4-litre turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine that produces an impressive 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a High-torque Lineartronic CVT.

The 2022 Toyota Camry comes standard with a 203-horsepower 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Camry comes standard with a front-wheel-drive system. The Camry also offers a 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 301 horsepower and comes standard with front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is an available drivetrain on specific models.

2022 Subaru Legacy vs 2022 Toyota Camry Safety

When it comes to safety, Subaru has always been one of the leading automakers in the industry. The Subaru Legacy continues this with its innovative safety and security features. It comes standard with plenty of safety and driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, lane-keeping assist, pre-collision emergency braking, and plenty of airbags, including driver's knee and side-impact. Available features include a front-view camera, a distraction mitigation system, reverse automatic braking, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.

The Toyota Camry offers some of these safety features, but not nearly as many as standard amenities. For example, lane-keep assist and full-speed adaptive cruise control are only available on the highest trim levels of the Camry. Furthermore, rear-cross traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are available on the second-lowest trim for the Legacy. In contrast, they are only available on the highest trim for the Camry. The Legacy offers confidence in motion with its abundance of standard and available safety features compared to the Toyota Camry.
