This engine uses both direct and port fuel injection to achieve smooth, efficient power delivery across the full RPM range. Compared to the previous 2.0-litre engine, this new powerplant produces 228 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and torque has jumped from 156 lb-ft to 184 lb-ft. That’s a boost in low-end torque, giving you faster acceleration and a stronger pull out of corners. With a redline of 7,500 rpm, it’s a high-revving thrill ride every time you get behind the wheel.
Transmissions Tuned for Driving Enthusiasts
Whether you choose the 6-speed manual transmission (6MT) or the 6-speed automatic (6AT), both gearboxes are designed to make the most of the BRZ’s increased power. The manual offers that pure, hands-on driving feel that true enthusiasts crave, while the automatic delivers crisp, quick shifts and smooth response, perfect for everyday use. For fuel efficiency, the manual transmission is rated at 12.0 L/100 km in the city and 8.8 L/100 km on the highway. The automatic fares slightly better at 11.0 L/100 km city and 7.7 L/100 km highway.

Tuned Suspension for Real-World Roads
The 2025 BRZ’s suspension system is tuned for sharp handling but still forgiving enough for daily driving. Up front, a MacPherson® strut setup features revised spring rates, lighter components, and improved damping. There’s also a rebound spring inside the struts to help reduce body roll and improve control in quick transitions. If you’re aiming for even sharper handling, the tS and 紫 Murasaki Edition trims come equipped with Hitachi Astemo front dampers. The 紫 Murasaki Edition also includes an STI flexible V-bar, which helps tighten up chassis flex for improved steering response.
In the rear, Subaru added a stronger subframe to better handle the engine’s increased output. The suspension includes a stabilizer bar mounted directly to the chassis and retuned shock absorbers for more stability and predictability through corners. Just like up front, the rear dampers are further upgraded on the tS and 紫 Murasaki Edition for even more confident performance during aggressive driving.
